Floating Tealight Box

Well this isn’t the post I had planned, but when I came to video my new catalogue project having made the sample I found that I have misplaced one of the stamps I needed ! So cue an Annual catalogue project instead. I hope you enjoy 🙂

So I found these pretty tealights in a local shop and thought they would make a perfect little gift if they were dressed up a little – so here is a box that lifts up

The overall box size is 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 x 1 1/4 (7 x 7 x 2.5) so could easily be used for other things and of course you don’t have to have the aperture on the inside you could then use the top as somewhere to write a message – so lots of options 🙂  You will of course need the Pretty Label Punch – but as you can see it is great for both apertures and to make a modified label too.  The paper I have used is the Lots of Lovely DSP – I didn’t get this for a long time as I found it a bit dark, but when you look at the reverse, there are fabulous lighter patterns which could be used for all sorts of occasions.  The stamp set is the Happy Birthday Gorgeous – got to love the font in this one – again very adaptable and the flowers are so pretty – and easy to colour in with the solid second stamp.

So to make the box..

Card 11 1/2 x 6 1/4 (28.5 x 14 cm)

Score long at 2 3/4, 4 , 6 3/4 , 8 , 10 3/4 inches (7 , 9.5, 16.5, 19, 26 cm)

Score short 1/2 , 1 3/4 , 4 1/2 , 5 3/4 inches (1 , 3.5, 10.5, 13 cm )

Card layer for lid 2 5/8 x 2 5/8 ( 6.5 x 6.5 )

DSP 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches (6 x 6 cm )

DSP for inside 2 5/8 x 2 5/8 inches (6.5 x 6.5 cm)

you will need a punch that is no larger than 2-1-2 inches so the pretty label punch is perfect for this, but you could use a 2-1/4 inch circle or smaller, but you risk the candle falling out!

Anyway , I’m off to prep some more projects , so come back soon

  1. A great little box Heidi for tea light candles, love the concept of the lid that lifts and reveals the candle which is still in the box. :O)

I have just re-read this and it does not quite sound right because of course you would lift a lid to find out what is inside a box, but this box has an opening on the top of the box and then a lid on top of that. I am confusing myself so I will just say Heidi:

Another amazing project for us crafters, thank you. :O)

  2. A beautiful box Heidi, using the Main catalogue DSP which I think some of us crafters have forgotten. :O)
