So whenever a new catalogue is launched, my fellow team members and I get together and create swaps using the new products. This way we quickly get additional samples that we can show our customers as well as seeing creations made with products from the catalogue that we may not have purchased ourselves.
For my swap I created a card using as much as I had from the Needlepoint Nook suite. This is such a pretty suite that combines my love of hand embroidery with papercraft. I don’t have much time to sew these days – and if I am honest I was very much a cross stitch gal – but I do admire those who embroider.
The Designer Series Paper (DSP) in this suite contains photorealistic images of embroidered flowers – perfect for a drape fold card! And I can’t remember ever sharing one of these cards before.
As well as the DSP, I have used the stamped images and accompanying dies to cut them out …although you could hand cut some of the images, I loved the dies just for that beautiful stitched floral image.
It did take me a while to work out what I was doing with the label though…clearly having a dim moment…I punched all the shapes first – then added the dies…. it worked surprisingly well – but is easier to use the die first – then punch out the shape…. and I love this sentiment – perfect for my crafty friends 🙂
Colour wise – Berry Burst continues to be one of my favourite colours…I will be so sorry to see it go when it retires this summer 🙁 It is such a rich and vibrant colour and works so well to lift those softer pinks.
