So you’ll have to excuse the lighting on this card – having to use my backup light box….I won’t go into the reasons why now…suffice to say clumsiness was involved …. but here is a baby card I made recently using the new Wildly happy stamp set. I wanted to create a focus on the image.. and frames…but wanted to do something different to the usual matting and layering….so this is what I came up with
I call it Mondrian inspired because of the way that the blocks overlap …although he tended to the primary colours.
My card uses a layer of Petal Pink to complement the sponging…soft and pretty for a girl…the elephant image (apart from being uber cute) was becuase the theme and colour scheme for the nursery is Smoky Slate and elephants. I love the Petal Pink…it is a slightly more orange pink (is that even a thing?) but I think it works well with the gray. The image is stamped in Memento Black and then coloured using the Smoky Slate Combo Blends, with a little Mossy Meadow for the ground and a hint of Pool Party around the image
Here is a flat shot of the card showing the sponging and overall effect. The frames are so easy to create with the stitched layering rectangles. I used the stitched shapes framelits for the image layer, but you can create a similar layer using the rectangles too.
Hope you like the card anyway…it is pretty self explanatory – but let me know if a video would be useful
