Jar of Flowers with Emboss resist and watercolour wash

I go through spells where I heat emboss….but usually it is for cards for friends and family….I hadn’t realised how little I have shared using this technique! but it is one of the most magical techniques…I especially love it at Christmas using gold and silver….but today is pretty different to that!

This is almost a monochrome card (a little red snuck into my water pot) it is not quite the look I was intending when I started out….but I really love it 🙂 I will be recreating this using some of the new In-Colors when I get my hands on the re-inkers….In the meantime it shows how wonderfully well our Fluid 100 watercolour paper allows the ink to flow. You will see from the video how just one little drop of re-inker goes a very long way (actually all the way up my forearm as my son pointed out later that evening!). I used our acrylic blocks, yet another use for them! – but you could use a watercolour tray if you have one. I love the bright combination of Gorgeous Grape and Pacific Point in my second card. On the watercolour card they take on a beautiful muted shade.

The Jar of Flowers is a lovely stamp set to work with, the stamps have enough detail to create lots of colouring opportunities…but are sketchy enough in the outline to lend themselves to less precise colouring… does that make sense to you? Of course if you are going to buy the stamp set, I would recommend the punch at the same time, so you get the 10% bundle discount…and it opens up even more ways to create with this stamp set.
